STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I am applying to the Master’s degree program in Computer Science majoring in Data Analytics Engineering at George Mason University in order to learn and more deeply explore the best practices in Applied Analytics and Big Data technology. I would like to learn keenly the principles, tools to design, analyze, and develop methodologies related to this technology. I would like to focus my career on becoming a Data Scientist and my profound interest is to learn the best strategies to master the technology.
I worked in Information Technology sector for 3 years as an Analyst with two different companies. From the very beginning of my work, I started learning new things with respect to profession and the ethics behind it. Steering towards new projects in the company were very challenging and interesting. Hailing from a Mechanical Engineering under graduation, Information Technology was very new to me. But as I started working I happened to learn what Information Technology was and how to be successful in it. Many new software’s, operations, management and new technologies were learnt by me in the process.
In my first company CHRP Pvt. Ltd. India, I was designated as Instructional Design Analyst, I worked for 2 years. In this duration, Monitoring of data, Documentation of data, Processing of files, Analyzing operations which are the overview of Information Technology was learnt by me. And in the due course I started realizing of the fact that Technology is boundless and there are far more innovative technologies out in the world which are to be mastered for being successful. Then I took a decision of taking a step ahead and applied for GOOGLE Maps India. I cracked the interview and joined the Multinational Company. I started attending meetings, conferences and met personally few professional people with respect to work and I started questioning myself, how much more I have to learn to be successful like them. My daily pastimes which include newspaper reading and Flipboard helped me answer this question of mine. I started investing more time in browsing articles which related to technology and innovations in it. One fine day I learnt about Big Data, its use and its outcome and I decided to choose it to be my goal.
